[origin: WO9502467A1] A sorting installation has several carriers (FT) that revolve on at least one conveyor (FE) to receive, transport and controllably deliver the conveyed material to sorting containers (SB). The carriers (FT) revolve in at least two planes (E1, E2) by means of a vertical deflection of the conveyor (FE). The sorting containers (SB) are arranged in at least two levels (ET1, ET2) which correspond to the planes (E1, E2) of the conveyor (FE). By guiding the conveyor (FE) in at least two planes (E1, E2) and by providing sorting containers (SB) in at least two levels (ET1, ET2) associated with said planes (E1, E2), the number of sorting containers (SB) available for sorting purposes may be doubled or multiplied for the same mounting surface area of the sorting device.
