[origin: EP0709232A1] The present invention provides a method for preparing an aluminum foil comprising the steps of roughening an aluminum foil and subsequently anodizing said aluminum foil characterized in that after the roughening and before the anodization said aluminum foil is etched with an alkaline solution comprising strong alkali in a total amount from 3 g/l to 75 g/l and subsequently with an acidic solution comprising strong acid in a total amount of at least 150 g/l. The present invention further provides a mono-sheet silver salt diffusion transfer material having as a support the alumium foil obtained according to the above defined method.
