[origin: EP0709326A1] The printing system has the printed products (12), which are transported by a conveyor, partially opened to allow printing of one of their inside surfaces via a printing head (24) e.g. an ink jet printer, on being fed past the latter. The printed products are transported with their folded edge (18) perpendicular to the transport direction (14), with an opening device (26) engaging the front and rear halves of each printed product to move them apart for access of the printing head to the inside surface. The area to be printed is pressed against a guide (54) so that it is flat as it passes the printing head.
