Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0710595A1] The parking brake includes a box (1) installed preferably near the rear subframe of a motor vehicle which houses a DC motor (16) supplied from the battery and coupled (10) to the reduction gear (15,2) whose larger wheel (2) has a nut (3) through its centre in two parts (3a,3b) threaded on to collinear screws (4,5). Rotation of the motor shaft in one direction draws (F2) the screws towards each other so that their end couplings (6,7) exert traction on the cores (8,9) of respective brake cables (13, 14). The motor is started by a pushbutton (17) within the driver's reach. A shim (21) can be pulled out (22) to release the brakes in emergency.
