The initiator according to the invention is characterized in that its housing (3) comprises a metal wall (4) integral with a metal base (5), with at least two electrodes (8a, 8b) passing through said base, at least one of which is electrically insulated from the base (5) by an insulating material (15). The invention is also characterized in that the housing (3) includes a plastic overmoulding (10) surrounding at least the base (5) and a portion of the electrodes (8a, 8b). The initiator of the invention is suitable for car safety systems.
