Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0711843A2] The use of a Cu-Zn alloy for drinking water installations, esp. for mfg. armatures, connectors and various objects in periodic or long-term contact with drinking water, is claimed. The alloy has a ratio of Cu to Zn of 1.3-2 and also contains: (a) 0.1-5% thermally stable dispersoids selected from Cr2Ta, Dy2O3, Er2O3, MoB, Mo2C, NbC, Nd2O3, Sm2O3, WS2, Yb2O3, ZrC and/or (b) 0.1-5% intermetallic phases made of Cu and/or Zn with at least one from La, Y, Zr and/or (c) intermetallic phases made without Cu and/or Zn and selected from 0.1-5% Ce, Co, La, Ni and 0.1-5% Al, Nb, Sb, Sn, Ti, and/or (d) thermally active precipitates of 1-5% Ag, Al, Co, Mg, or Ti.
