[origin: EP0711921A1] The electric motor has two or more impellers (11, 14) mounted on its shaft with a fixed bulkhead (9) separating each pair of impellers, or each set of impellers. The plastic bulkhead is friction welded between two sections of the blower housing. The airflow between the impeller stages is ducted by flanges on the bulkhead to move in a meandering path from the outer edge of one impeller stage to the centre of the next stage. The motor (4) is supported between two elastomer packing rings (18,21) with the rear ring having axial profiles (29, 30) for axial location onto a bulkhead (31) with a clip fastening into the housing. The cable feed is radial through a grommet friction welded into the housing.
