[origin: EP0712264A2] The sound reproduction system uses at least 3 front sound reproduction channels positioned on the left and right and at the centre and 2 surround sound reproduction channels positioned on the left and right. Each of the received sound channel signals is divided, with one part provided with an increased delay time and an altered amplitude and phase before summation with the unaltered signal parts, for supplying summated signals to each of the sound reproduction channels. pref. auxiliary sub-sound reproduction channels (LSn,RSn) are supplied with further signals obtained by similar division and summation.
