Abstract (en)

Prodn. of an extruded honeycomb monolith of good strength comprises: (a) mixing into a homogeneous body the following components: (i) molecular sieve material selected from zeolites, metallosilicates, titanosilicates, metalloalluminates, germanium aluminates, metallophosphates, aluminophosphates, silicoaluminophosphates,, metalloaluminophosphates, gallogerminates, gallosilicates, chromosilicates, borosilicates, ferrisilicates and mixts.; (ii) aq. silicon resin emulsion; (iii) temporary binder selected from (m)ethylcellulose, hydroxybutylcellulose, hydroxybutylmethylcellulose, hydroxy(m)ethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, hydroxyethylmethylcellulose or mixts.; and (iv) water; (b) drying the body; and (c) sintering to a temp. sufficient to form a catalyst. Also claimed is a process for prodn. of an extruded honeycomb monolith with high surface area.
