Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0712952A1] System for the lifting of needles on a knitting machine by needle butts to produce a fabric pattern comprises the following system in combination: (a) electromagnetic unit(s) (11) with a permanent magnet and electromagnets to produce a homogeneous magnetic field, the pole faces of the electromagnets equal or smaller than the needle gauge; (b) an electronic control unit which sends synchronised selected impulses to the electromagnets to weaken or cancel the field of the permanent magnet; (c) a swinging lower needle (5) which transfers the magnetic action by rotating about a point (5B) as the end (5D) attracted to the pole face to disengage the lifting ledge (5C); (d) a spring (15) which rotates the lower needle (5) as it passes over subsequent pole faces; and (e) a sinker cam (13) to lower the lower needle, a radial cam (17) to deflect the swinging lower needle (5) and a lifting cam (9). Also claimed is the knitting machine.
