Abstract (en)
A base plate (4) for mounting one or more electrodes (2,3) in a charged particle energy analyzer (1) comprises a pair of sheets (29,30) overlying each other in spaced apart parallel relation and secured to each other at discrete points across their common area. Preferably the sheets (29,30) are held at a fixed spacing from each other by means of annular spacers (32) and are secured to each other by means of bolts (31) received through said annular spacers (32), which may comprise rivet nuts (32). <IMAGE>
