[origin: EP0713662A1] The system comprises uprights (1,1') which are fixed in position in the building, with shelves or cupboards etc. being inserted between them (3,19). The side surfaces (25a,25b) towards each other of the uprights contain opposite horizontal supporting grooves (2) open to the front, and from which end the shelves etc. are inserted in them, these being held by friction so as to prevent undesired horizontal movement. The groove width can be only slightly greater than the thickness of the inserted shelf ends. Friction can be generated by an inserted rubber strip compressed in the horizontal direction between the groove bottom and the shelf edge.
