Abstract (en)

A tube mounting assembly (10) for connecting a suction line tube (12) and a liquid line tube (14) to a housing, such as a compressor or evaporator, primarily consists of a mounting block (20) having a first passage (21) extending inwardly from one side thereof and a second passage (22) also extending inwardly from a second side of the mounting block (20) for receiving the suction line and liquid line tubes (12,14), respectively. Each of the first and second passages (21,22) has a pair of opposing slots (23,24,25,26) positioned adjacent their respective edges (21b,22b) for receiving an insert (40,40') designed to secure the respective suction line and inlet line tubes (12,14) with the passages (21,22). The insert (40,40') has a first side (46) which corresponds with the suction line tube (12) and a second side (47) which corresponds with the inlet line tube (14) and a pair of winged tabs (43,43') for insertion into the opposing slots (23,25,24,26) located adjacent the edge of the mounting block (20) in the passage (21,22). The winged tabs (43,43') of the inserts (40,40') are designed to be press fit in the slots (23,25,24,26). The insert (40,40') is designed such that the same insert can be used to retain either the suction line tube (12) or the liquid line tube (14) within the mounting block (20). In an alternative embodiment, the insert and tube have complimentary shaped portions to prevent rotation of the tube within the mounting assembly. <IMAGE>
