Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0714183A2] The method involves transmitting information additional to the programmes, e.g. a programme identification code or PI Code in the form of a serially transmitted binary data flow divided into individual blocks (3) each contg. an offset word (4) and a useful word (5). The received data flow is checked for the presence of a known bit sequence. At least one part of an anticipated useful word can be used for synchronisation. The data flow is also checked at least for the presence of the bit sequence of the anticipated useful word or part of a useful word.
