[origin: EP0714770A1] The conveyor belt has both areas with engagement components and smooth surfaced areas. The drive roller (1) and the deflector drum (6) are divided into axially sepd. drum sections (3,4,8,9) which are rotatable independently to each other. The conveyor belt (13) is so formed between the areas with engagement components (15) and the smooth surfaced areas (14) that small relative movements in the longitudinal direction between these areas are possible. Between the two kinds of areas the conveyor belt has a number of recesses (16) which distributed in the belt longitudinal direction. Such recesses are slots crossways to the longitudinal direction of the belt.
