Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9601402A1] The invention concerns a heater for space-heating purposes, consisting of modular vertical elements assembled parallel to each other with channels allowing heating fluid to flow through them and, located at the ends of the vertical elements, horizontal elements with a transverse channel which acts as a supply or discharge channel. Located at each connection point between the vertical and horizontal elements is a seal which is mounted in the opening to the channel in the vertical element as well as in a channel in the horizontal element which is flush with the opening to the channel in the vertical element. The invention calls for the channel (2) in the vertical elements (1) to have a flat reactangular section whose external surface forms the radiating surface (6) and a seal with passageways (12) between the vertical (1) and horizontal (8) elements. Heaters built to this design offer several advantages, such as the high proportion of radiant heat in the total amount of heat given out by the heater, the high thermodynamic efficiency of the heater due to the uniform surface temperature, and the high flexibility of the heater with regard to its shape and design.
