[origin: WO9506322A1] In a safety switch having a switch-actuating member, a rotatably mounted ratchet wheel (5) with a curved track for controlling the movement of the switch actuating member and a driver element that is offset from the curved track in the circumferential direction, and a key (11) that can be inserted in a key channel and that has a crosspiece (13) which cooperates with the driver element to impart the key movement to the ratchet wheel (5), the key (11) has, besides the longitudinal region with crosspiece (13), at least one additional longitudinal region with a crosspiece. At least one of the crosspieces (13, 17) of the key (11) is offset from at least one of the other crosspieces in the direction of movement of the key (11). Besides the ratchet wheel (5), there is at least one additional ratchet wheel (6) with a curved track (10) and a driver element (8). All ratchet wheels (5, 6) can be rotated independently of one another. The switch-actuating member is coupled with each of the ratchet wheels (5, 6) through a logical AND operation.
