[origin: EP0715841A1] The device has a carrier (10) which can pivot about a vertical axis (14), with two sections (22) lying on opposite sides of this axis provided with respective fixings (42,54) for a support belt supporting the patient in a sitting position. The first section of the carrier remains in a fixed position relative to the vertical axis, the second section pivoted about a horizontal axis via an electric drive (20), or both sections pivoted about the horizontal axis independently.
