The electroacoustic transducer has a hollow sleeve (10) with an elliptical cross-section and an electromechanical drive element (11) oscillating along the main ellipse axis and attached to the sleeve at one of its intersection points (13) with this axis. A second drive element (12) or a counter-weight acts on the sleeve at the second intersection point with the main ellipse axis, with the sonochemical reaction medium fed through the centre of the sleeve.

Ein Flextensional-Wandler mit einer im Querschnitt elliptischen, zylindrischen Hülle (10) und einem insbesondere elektromechanischen Antriebselement (11), das in Richtung der Ellipsenhauptachse schwingt und sich dabei an der Hülle (10) in deren Hauptscheitel (13) abstützt, wird zwecks Verwendung zur Schallbehandlung eines liquiden, sonochemischen Reaktionsmediums, z. B. Klärschlamm, in der Weise optimiert, daß die Abstützung des Antriebselements (11) an der Hülle (10) auf deren Außenseite in dem einen Hauptscheitel (13) vorgenommen ist, während im anderen Hauptscheitel (14) der Hülle (10) ein weiteres, ebenfalls in Richtung der Ellipsenhauptachse schwingendes Antriebselement (12), ersatzweise eine Gegenmasse (17), von außen angreift, und daß das Medium durch das Innere der Hülle (10) hindurchgeführt wird. <IMAGE>
