[origin: EP0716561A1] The power supply stage is used to supply the X-ray tube (4) via a HV transformer (3) with 2 groups of primary and secondary windings (16, 31; 26, 32) which are wound on the same transformer core. The coupling factor between the primary windings (16, 26) of the different winding groups is less than the coupling factor between the primary and secondary windings of the same winding group. Each of the primary windings is coupled to a respective current regulator (1, 2) with a fixed operating frequency and an individually regulated pulse ratio, providing overlapping voltage pulses.
