Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0716916A1] The press tool closing process involves halting or delaying the fluid supply to at least one of the brake cylinders (3) which create the braking force opposed to the ram motion shortly before the upper tool is set down on the sheet component. Alternatively, the brake cylinder may be connected to a hydraulic oil store (8). The hydraulic oil in the pressure point cylinders (1) is forced into a hydraulic oil store (7) by the further downward motion of the conrod with the ram brake decelerating. Alternatively, it may be forces at least partly into the lower cylinder space of a braking cylinder. The brake cylinders are then relieved of pressure by switching the valves.
