The light unit has a universal base incorporating the components (3,4,5,10) for supporting and supplying the lamp and an interchangeable lamp fitting which is snap-fitted to the base. The base has a dished housing (8) with a cover (7) fitting over the lamp supporting and supplying components and made of a material which allows it to act as a reflector, or coated with a reflector material.

Zur Bereitstellung einer standardisierten Leuchtenserie mit Leuchten unterschiedlicher optischer bzw. ästhetischer Wirkung, wird ein Universal-Leuchtenunterteil als Grundelement (1) vorgeschlagen, auf das unterschiedliche Leuchtenaufsätze (15) aufschnappbar sind. Das Grundelement (1) weist ein wannenförmiges Gehäuse (8) mit Deckel (7) auf und enthält alle für den Betrieb eines Leuchtmittels (2) erforderlichen Komponenten, wie Vorschaltgerät (4), Fassungen (3), Verbindungsleitungen (5) und Anschlußelemente (10). <IMAGE>
