[origin: WO9507147A1] A waste compaction and liquid extraction system (10) and method are provided. The system includes a tank (12) for containing liquid and solids, and a tray (32) that seats on the tank. The tray includes a feeding system for moving bags (530, 540). A rotary disc impeller (64) is mounted in the tank for grinding. A stationary screw (34) is mounted to the outlet port of the tank. A cylindrical sieve (44) surrounds the screw. The sieve is rotatably mounted to the tank outlet. A restrictor (56) at the end of the sieve maintains back pressure.
