Die Erfindung betrifft einen Datenträger (1), wie eine Ausweiskarte, Kreditkarte oder dergleichen, mit wenigstens einer Kunststoffschicht, die zumindest in einem Teilbereich aufgrund ihrer Oberflächenbeschaffenheit erste diffus lichtstreuende Eigenschaften aufweist. In diesen Bereich werden mittels eines Lasers Informationen (4) in Form von lokalen Änderungen der Oberflächenbeschaffenheit vorgesehen, die zweite diffus lichtstreuende Eigenschaften aufweisen, so daß die Informationen (4) zumindest unter einem bestimmten Betrachtungwinkel lesbar sind, aber keinen farblichen Kontrast zu ihrer Umgebung aufweisen. <IMAGE>
