[origin: EP0718545A1] The headlamp casing (10), with a plain front glass (40), contains the reflector (30), supporting the lamp-bulb (20) on the optical axis. A sheet metal shroud (50), partly enclosing the bulb, ensures that it emits no light directly through the front glass. The beam produced is thus entirely controlled by the reflector. The shroud is provided with e.g. two supporting legs (51,52), fixed to the reflector. To prevent the shroud being seen by an external observer in front of the vehicle, a decorative trim or embellishment (60) is fixed to the front of the shroud using e.g. snap-over rims or bent metal tabs. The trim may be e.g. polyhedral, or hemispherical, painted grey, or in the adjacent coachwork colour.
