[origin: EP0718570A2] A refrigerator has a thermally insulated housing containing the storage chambers and the machinery in the base below them. There is a flow channel for the air leading to the machinery, driven by a fan(24) between the condenser(22) and the compressor(23). Interrupting the air path (34) are blocks of noise absorbing material, located so as to make the air path labyrinth-like but without restricting it. The blocks protrude from the side walls of the base and the divider wall (32) in the middle so that their free ends overlap. The path on each side has at least pair of blocks protruding from the side wall, sandwiching one block from the divider wall.
