[origin: EP0718577A2] The kiln to vitrify ash material from a rubbish incinerator, using electrical resistance heating, has a shrouding (11) for the thermal insulation (21) of the cover (2), at least at the opening (10) for protection against the corrosive gases (30) from the interior (1R). The shrouding (11) has at least one gas-tight cylinder (12) of ceramic, e.g. Al2O3, mullite, MgAl2O4, bonded hydraulically by a fireproof cement (16) with an Al2O3 base.
