[origin: EP0718591A2] Ignition system for a propelling charge has a perforated supporting tube (5) of combustible material, which is coaxial around a free ignition duct (4) and has an ignition transfer charge (1) on the side towards the propelling charge powder. (I) comprises a 1-3 mm thick pyrotechnic rigid foam layer (composite rigid foam) and consists of several composite layers (8-10). The inside layer (10) has a coarsely porous (sponge) structure, whilst the layers (8,9) on either side of this have a closed cell structure. Also claimed is a method of producing the ignition system.
