[origin: EP0718923A1] The electric connector has contacts enclosed in a casing (1) under the cover (4) which has a bevelled edge (10) for retention by a catch (3) and is jointed (5) at the opposite side. The frontal edge of the casing features an annular groove from which the sealing ring (7) protrudes in the axial direction. The cover and the casing of a mating free socket have similarly bevelled edges (10) which make contact with the ring when the cover is closed and when the socket is inserted, respectively. The groove has a flat inner edge compatible with a corresp. part (12) of the cover.
