Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0719639A2] The dampener is for a rotary offset printing press. It consists of a variable-speed moistened immersing roll (2), a plastics-coated transfer roll (3), a damping roll (4), and an applicator roll (5) acting with the platen cylinder (6). The damping roll is driven at a speed proportional to, but different from, that of the platen cylinder. The damping roll speed also differs from the speeds of the transfer roll and the immersing roll. The dias. of the platen cylinder, applicator roll, damping roll, transfer roll and immersing roll are in specified ratios to each other.
