[origin: EP0721754A1] Th bed frame, made with one hinged section (4) forming a back-rest for a person sitting up in bed, has a rigid panel (9) situated beneath the slats in the seat zone. The panel can be moved between a lower position in which it is separate from the slats and an upper one in which it is pressed against them. The rigid panel is moved perpendicular to the slatted surface of the bed frame synchronously with the movement of the lifting back rest, using an electric motor (5) and a cam mechanism (12,13) on parallel bars (10,11) linked to the motor shaft by two pairs of arms (15,16). The rigid panel can be made from sheet metal with a padded surface.
