[origin: WO9509564A1] The present invention provides methods and compositions for improved magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy. The compositions are of the general formula: Cn-Lx-Gy, wherein n is about 60 to about 1,000; L is a bifunctional linker; x is from about 0 to about 12; G is a chelator; and Y is from about 0 to about 12. Also disclosed are diagnostic compositions and methods of performing diagnostic procedures which involve administering to a warm-blooded animal a diagnostically effective amount of the compositions of the invention and then exposing the warm-blooded animal to an imaging procedure.
