[origin: EP0723055A1] The screws (8) are parts of clamp unions (3) provided for connecting the plates. Abutting joints are formed between the plates and the clamp unions at the ends of the joints contain pairs of clamp jaws, which are tensioned together by screws arranged outside the plates. Intermediate spaces are formed between the plates (2) and the clamp unions are provided with clamp strips (5) which have screw holes (15). For covering the intermediate spaces between the plates, the clamp unions are fitted on at least one broad side of the protective wall formed by the plates. They are tensioned against the plates by the screw holes and the screws penetrating the intermediate spaces.
