[origin: WO9605944A1] A percussion element (1) for applying blows on a tool has a body (3) with several parallel bores (4). A heavy mass moulded piston (2) runs in a pressure-tight manner in each of these bores (4) and strikes against stops (5) that may be arranged inside or outside the moulded piston (2). An end chamber (9) is arranged at each face of the moulded pistons (2). The moulded pistons (2) control the operation of the percussion element (1). At least one of the moulded pistons (2) applies blows on the tool. The percussion element may apply working blows in the direction of the tool and in a special embodiment it may also apply loosening blows in the opposite direction. In a special embodiment, the energy of the loosening blows may be regulated in its intensity or suppressed. The percussion element is preferably used in surgery, but also for the construction of apparatus in general.
