[origin: EP0723769A2] The eye wash spray head (16) is at the top of a handle (12) which is located into a holder. The water control valve (6) is built into the holder and is operated by a plunger (7) whose free end rests against the eye wash handle. When the eye wash is removed from the holder, it releases the plunger which automatically opens the valve. The handle has a shaped waisted section (31) positioned above the plunger in the normal holding position of the handle in the holder. The eye wash can be pressed down to align the waisted section with the plunger and open the valve. Alternatively, the eye wash can be removed from the holder to open the valve. The flexible hose is attached to the bottom of the handle and is normally stored wound around (13) the holder.
