[origin: EP0723828A1] Powder used to cover molten steel which is being continuously cast in a mould, to exclude air and serve as a lubricant, is in the form of granules of dia. 20-800, pref. 300-500, mu m and made by atomisation. The powder contains 0-1 wt.% of free C and a small amt. of at least one nitride, of Si, B, Al, Ti, Mn, Zr, Fe or Cr.
