[origin: EP0724050A1] The flag or banner (1) has a transverse seam (9) running at an angle from its outer tip (12) to a point (14) half-way down its inner edge, containing a rigid reinforcing element (10) which extends as far as the flag/banner halyard (4). The rigid reinforcing element (10) comprises, for example, a thin flat vane of plastic or metal, or a rod. its lower end is connected to a guide ring (15) which moves up and down the mast as the flag/banner is raised or lowered.
