[origin: WO9511346A1] A road cutting apparatus has a drum (38) for planing a strip in the road surface (46) as the apparatus moves in a working direction (56). To give the apparatus stability during cutting, the apparatus has three point suspension in that it stands on three wheels (26, 28, 30) at the apeces of a triangle ABC which is assymetric in relation to said direction (56) and the cutter drum (38) lies outside the triangle ABC adjacent one side AC and behind two of the wheels in said direction (56), so that the wheels can run on the uncut road surface as cutting takes place. The wheels at the ends of said triangle AC are independently steerable and the third wheel is a castor wheel giving the apparatus excellent manoeuvrability.
