Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9502730A1] In order to inspect and rehabilitate bridges (4), a scaffolding (1) is provided that is suspended from the bridge (4) and can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the bridge (4). In order to move the scaffolding (1) around bridge piers (6) or the like in a particularly easy manner, the scaffolding (1) may be lowered at one of its both ends (16, 17) until it hangs freely downwards and can be moved around the bridge pier (6). It may then be swung up once again by pulling up the lowered end (16, 17). The length of the scaffolding (1) to be swung downwards may be reduced by subdividing the middle area of the scaffolding (1) into two parts (2, 3). Each part (2, 3) may be lowered by means of cables (10) that run from its junction to the opposite edge (15) of the bridge (4), until both parts (2, 3) hang freely downwards and may be moved around the bridge piers (6), then be pulled up once again.
