Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0725371A1] The franking machine has a printer (1) to apply postal imprints (2) to an envelope (3). The imprints include date (2B) which is checked beforehand by a processor (4) connected to a calendar clock (5). The printer is configured (6) e.g. by micromotors to apply a current date obtd. by the processor. The date to be printed can be offset from that given by the clock, by a number of days corresp. to operations of a data entry key (7). The processor is programmed to detect any Saturday or Sunday later than a reference date stored in a memory (8), and to alert the operator accordingly by a message on a display screen (9).
