[origin: WO9320281A1] A rail bed has a plate (6) carrying rail (2) tensioned by clamping clips (27). A base buffer (16) arranged between the plate (6) and a base surface (15) is vertically prestressed. An edge buffer (20) made of elastic material is arranged along each end face (21) of the plate (6). The edge buffer (20) is prestressed by a clamping element (23) supported on the base (1), so that vibration-damping requirements can be even better satisfied while maintaining high gauge-measurement accuracy.
