[origin: WO9605430A1] A piston (58) is disclosed for piston compressors for compressing gaseous media, preferably air, having a piston rod that moves back and forth within a cylinder and is rigidly fixed to a piston provided with a passage for the gaseous medium to be sucked from the lower side of the piston. The passage further has an inlet valve that opens when the piston (58) moves downwards and closes when the piston moves upwards (58). This inlet valve consists of openings (80) made of several aligned parts and located in ring-shaped grooves arranged on both sides of main bodies (76) made of plastics. The top ring-shaped grooves may be covered by the ring-shaped valve lid (81).
