[origin: EP0726145A1] The safety device has a shaft (4) running in lateral bearings and parallel to a cylindrical component. A protection device (3,3'') is mounted on it and a control cam (2) with at least one associated end switch and a spring-loaded latching device (16). The control cam, which is attached to the shaft, has an electrically secured latching position (13) for the protection device in engagement with the spring-loaded latching device. It also has an electrically secured safety position (15) for the protection device on an adjacent cam branch (14). The protection device is connected to a machine protection device (11) via a coupling.
