Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0726338A2] Thermoplastic multi-filament yarn is melt spun at speeds above 2000 m/min. to produce partially oriented yarn which is then immediately drawn between rollers to produce drawn yarn of the required denier and extensibility. Additional heat is supplied at the spinneret and/or immediately after exit from the spinneret and throughput; wind-up speed and draw ratios are adjusted to give the required yarn properties. Also claimed is the corresponding process where partially oriented yarn is wound up on a bobbin and drawn after unwinding in a separate stage.
