Abstract (en)
A process is claimed for consolidating a fibre web made of synthetic staple fibres, e.g. polyester, polyethylene or polypropylene fibres, or of continuous fibres that are up to 10 mm thick and consist of pure man-made fibres without binding fibres or special melt fibres. The web is consolidated by means of a single water needling process at a water pressure of no more than 60 bar, pref. 20-30 bar.

Faservliese aus Chemiefasern oder auch aus natürlichen Fasern müssen nach ihrer Bildung mittels Krempel oder auch nach reiner Ablage bei Endlosfaservliesen verfestigt werden. Bei dem Vlies nach der Erfindung, das besonders voluminös und dennoch verfestigt sein soll, werden dazu weder niedriger schmelzende Bindefasern noch chemische Bindemittel verwendet. Gleichfalls enffällt das mechanische Vernadelungsverfahren, weil dabei das Volumen zu stark vermindert wird. Das gewünschte Volumen wird beibehalten, weil allein mittels einer einmaligen Wasservernadelung (bei einseitiger Durchführung) die Verfestigung erzeugt wird, wobei der Wasserdruck aber nicht höher als 60 bar, besser 20 - 30 bar sein soll.
