[origin: EP0727564A1] A ring (4) of pref. Sm-Co magnetic material recessed in a housing (5) of austenitic steel in the wall of the turbine casing (1) is divided into three sections (7a-7c) with alternate polarity of magnetisation. The end (8) of each blade (2) is covered with a plate (3) of approximately rhombic form from the radial aspect, with acute-angled edges parallel to the direction of rotation. The plate is mfd. advantageously of Al whose good electrical conductivity favours the induction of eddy currents and damping of vibrations.
