[origin: US5680815A] A dampening unit for an offset printing machine having an applicator roller including a central section and two oppositely disposed tapered end sections to prevent the transference of excessive amounts of dampening medium to the printing plate is disclosed. The boundaries between each of the end sections and the central section of the applicator roller are located adjacent predetermined regions defined on the plate cylinder to ensure a uniform dampening medium film is produced across the entire format width of the material to be printed.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Feuchtwerk für eine Offsetdruckmaschine mit mindestens einer dem Plattenzylinder zugeordneten Feuchtauftragwalze. Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, die Feuchtmittelführung auf der Druckplatte in die Ausgestaltung der Feuchtwerkwalzengeometrie einzubeziehen. Gelöst wird das dadurch, daß die Feuchtauftragwalze (6) zu einem Druckplattenformat (10), welches auf einem Plattenzylinder angeordnet ist, eine überstehende axiale Walzenlänge (17) aufweist, wobei die Walzenlänge (17) durch eine mittig angeordnete Walzenlänge (16) mit einheitlichem Walzendurchmesser und zwei stirnseitig zugeordneten Walzenlängen (15) mit einer Walzendurchmesserreduzierung (12) gebildet wird. <IMAGE>
