[origin: WO9514574A1] In order to improve handling of printing ink in printers, the ink is supplied to the duct roller (1) of the inking system through a space (10) limited on all sides that acts as an ink reservoir. Known ink dosing elements, for example ink measurement devices (4), are arranged at the outlet of said space (10). The limiting element (5) that determines the size of the space (10) forms with its front edge an adjustable gap (8) with the surface of the duct roller and ink is supplied under pressure to the space (10). Ink supply to the duct roller (1) is thus not only left to the ink own dynamic behaviour and hydrostatic pressure, as well as to the position of the ink measurement devices (4), but may also be influenced by a controllable print feeding pressure. The ink is directly pressed into the space (10), upstream of the ink measurement devices (4), by an appropriate pumping or dispensing system and under the most favourable pressure according to the operation conditions.
