[origin: EP0730932A1] The belt tensioner mechanism has its belt (22) wrapped around two workpieces (24,26) whose edges are protected by protection pieces fixed to the belt. The handle (20) of the mechanism is connected to a pressure plate (18) via a spindle (16) which moves it from its zero position so that it clamps the belt sides (25,26) between it and the upper part of the body (14) of the device. The belt passes into the tensioning mechanism through channels and goes through curved sections (30,32) which produce a double pulley effect when the free end of the belt is pulled in a downwards direction (23).
