[origin: EP0733384A1] The ventilator consists of a metal cage (22) fitted to an opening (20) in one wall of the duct (15) to allow air to pass into the duct to ventilate the cables inside it. The cage contains upper and lower panels of a refractory material, the inner faces of which are equipped with panels (10, 11) of an intumescent material capable of a controlled expansion in the event of a fire, shutting off the air flow through the cage. The metal cage is attached to the refractory panels by staples or screws (7), and the intumescent material is silicone-based.
